Doing what they do best, Jackall has again bridged the gap between live baits and lures, with the release of their latest surface offering, the Gantarel. Without question this 16cm lipless lure is the most versatile and lifelike lure I have ever had the pleasure of tying onto my leader. While it seems impossible, the Gantarel is even more realistic then all the soft plastics I have flung in anger over the years.

What sets this floating 70gm top water lure apart from its peers is the unique surface signature it writes on the water. It is so realistic that on a recent testing trip to the river we had a determined bird make several attempt to pluck the lure off the top – now that is lifelike!

Constructed with a number of subtle, yet innovative features, the Jackall Gantarel is molded with protruding pectoral fins, which provides stability and helps generate its trademark smooth, S-shaped swimming action. Able to perform 180-degree turns with a sharp jerk of the rod tip, the Jackall Gantarel arouses reflex strikes from fish that may be interested, but not fully committed to attack.

The lure also comes with dual toe points for either a surface snaking action, bottom tow point, or a shallow diving action, top tow point. I have predominately used the lure as a surface bait, fixing my leader to the bottom tow point via a loop knot and imparting either a stop start or steady cadence retrieve.

As they are a dual jointed lure with no rattle their sound signature is a rhythmic ticking sound, as they glide through the water. Their sheer size and girth mean they will be an instant hit for both Murray cod and Barramundi anglers alike, who are searching for the most natural top water lure available in Australia.

They will be available in all good Australian tackle shops shelves from July 2015.
